The Jardin des Plantes in Angers, a place steeped in history

The Jardin des Plantes in Angers, a green oasis close to the city centre! Created in the 18th century, this magnificent wooded and flower-filled space is the first botanical garden in the capital of Anjou.

In 1901, a storm ravaged the Jardin des Plantes in Angers. Fortunately, the city wasted no time in approving its redevelopment.

The park was then restored in 1904–1905 by landscape architect Edouard André. He created a sumptuous English-style garden, featuring waterfalls, winding paths and statues…, lending the Jardin des Plantes in Angers a romantic atmosphere.

Today, life is in full swing in this shady garden, which is perfect for a stroll. It’s worth noting that its collection of century-old trees plays a major part in this. Time to take a leisurely stroll!

Discover the Angers Botanical Garden
